Equipment has been unloaded and workers are present at the National Theater today. From my untrained eye it appears that they may be working to preserve it [[plastic over windows for example) rather than simply getting ready to tear it down with the parking deck.Attachment 19625
I heard they're turning it into a parking garage.

When I walked by the theater this evening, I asked one of the crew members. He told me that they were filming a made for TV movie, Low Winter Sun. AMC will release it in August.
With Dan Gilbert trying to buy the rest of this block, I think the National Theatre would fit perfectly into his plans. Greektown is the only one of the Detroit casinos without any sort of real performance venue. A renovation of the National would give him that marketable venue within a stone's throw of the casino itself.
