I know these aren't glamorous, high profile issues and personalities, but these primary elections have more influence over our daily lives than most national elections.

Zoo millage passed overwhelmingly. Parks passed too. Interim councilmember Janee Ayres finished first and will take on second place David Bullock in the election for the at-large Council seat. Janice Winfrey's primary campaign against John Conyers failed miserably. Conyers' grand-nephew Ian won the Dem. primary to fill Virgil Smith's State Senate vacancy. State Rep. Brian Banks survived a strong primary challenge, despite his big legal/financial problems. And ol' Robert Ficano made it to the general election in his campaign to become a Circuit Court judge.
That was a shocker, especially after he was embarrassed so badly in his Wayne County Executive re-election bid. But since elections for judges are not vetted very well by the general public, Ficano probably got by with votes from all the lawyers in his pocket [[or wannabees), and all the other corrupt officials he rewarded so well when he was County Executive.Quote:
