Toronto Auto Show Sets Attendance Record

This past weekend the Toronto auto show had an attendance record for opening weekend and a single day record of 56,000. I mention this because of Detroit's disappointing show last year and reports of the demise of shows in general. In fact Ford isn't even participating in the Toronto show. Let's face it, people went because it's a holiday weekend in Ontario in the middle of February. I know the purpose of moving the Detroit show was to show off the city in nicer weather and to move some events outdoors but the outdoor events were a letdown and fewer journalists are showing up due to the reduction of new model introductions. I'm thinking maybe auto shows aren't yet dead but they would be better downsizing the Detroit event somewhat, moving it back to the winter and focusing on consumers again.
