No real surprise there. He's always been a misogynistic, drunken asshole. He's just livin' his dream
Always remember judge a person by the company they keep and the people they admire......enough said .....
Mr Ritchie needs to just go away.
Kid Rock is drunk and singing " Sweet Home Alabama" all summer along.
He's a P.O.S. anyway. Who cares?
Words of wisdom!

I second Mr. Rock's indignation. F both Joy Behar and Oprah!
Judge not lest ye be judged

It remains pathetic that LCA opened up with six Kid Rock shows.
He still has a restaurant at LCA too
I really expect nothing less from this fake piece of wannabe white trash.
He most certainly has fallen from grace from at one time winning the
2011 NAACP Great Expectations Award!
Indeed. Although that event did not go without comment either.

I'm hip!!
I guess Kid Rock is making sure that he takes the torch from Ted Nugent in the category of 'local celebrity that we were once proud of for some reason but now wish would go away'.
journalist Bankole Thompson is giving back his Detroit NAACP award in light of the refusal of the organization to rescind its 2011 award to Kid Rock:

Yep, Bankole's been going in hard on the NAACP, Anthony and the mayor on his 910 AM radio spot the last few months.

Perhaps it seem expedient and PC at the time [[happens often), though not without protest as others have noted.
I'm certainly not a KR fan but I'll put forth during that time he'd just co sponsored that Kid Rock Music Lab at the Detroit Historical Museum [[2010-11?). The Museum had a big uptick in visits from that installation where it had been pretty staid for years.
Perhaps someone else can speak to some of the positive things KR did about the time of the award. Or that might be it.
based on the statement from Dr. Wendell Anthony on behalf of the Detroit NAACP,Also, there is/was also a contribution to a soup kitchen/meeting space in Eastern market. https://easternmarket.org/public/new...shed-5-projectQuote:
The issue at the time was the useof the confederate flag as the backdrop in some of his concerts. The confederate flag still represents a period in ournation’s history of enslavement, terror, and division. We believe it should be taken down and not flown up. Since thattime, the confederate flag, as well statues of the old confederacy, have been brought down in many places across thecountry. This was a well-attended dinner, with over 10,000 persons. It led to further discussion around the issue of theflag. Following the dinner, Kid Rock stopped using the flag during his concerts. We said then as we say today, we werenot lifting up the flag. We were recognizing someone who advocated for our city which was being attacked across thecountry at various levels. For the record, Kid Rock consulted with the mayor of the city of Detroit at that time, DaveBing, to make financial contributions to non-profit organizations in the city. He provided $10,000 each to fivecommunity groups, selected by the mayor. They were the Belle Isle Conservancy, Mosaic Youth Theater, Habitat ForHumanity, Youthville Detroit, and the Detroit Recreational Centers. He also gave $50,000 to storm relief efforts intornado impacted states. The Detroit Branch did not solicit nor receive any funds as a result of these contributions
Quote:
Kid Rock Kitchen Commons: Seven days a week, this space will be used to host community events that previously could not have been hosted at Eastern Market, including those focused on health and nutrition.
