What happens to houses that don't sell on "Neighbors wanted"?

Are they put on a demolition list? A lot of the houses are in terrible shape and in sketchy neighborhoods.

Pack em up and off to Colorado they go.

They only fetch 150k each because they are fixer uppers but they take all we can get out there.

If no one bids on the house it goes to the back in the pool and gets put up for auction again in a couple months. Same thing happens if the winning bidder does not pay.

The auction properties are actually the desirable houses. They also have "Own it now" which sells the houses DLBA hasn't cleaned out, stabilized, or done any title work on. http://auctions.buildingdetroit.org/BuyNow/Home

Thanks, Shai. Have you looked at the site recently? Way too many of the houses are too far gone to be financially feasible to rehab. And many are in terrible neighborhoods as well. More don't sell than do.

I followed it very closely for the first year or so. The houses in the best locations were snapped up quickly at prices that I thought were high.

Most of what is left has been picked over for the reasons you listed. But, if the city continues to improve maybe they will find owners eventually.
