Plaque Readers Needed
Any information on a stone monument with plaque affixed?
It is located off the freeway by I-75 North, just before Gratiot – there is a short spur of the freeway that connects and ends right at Gratiot – a grassy area to one side right at Gratiot.
The text reads:
“We would like to thank the workingmen and women, the “backbone,” of this project that sacrificed their personal time, jeopardized their marriages, lost precious time with loved ones, through sickness and inclement weather, constructed this project for the City of Detroit and the State of Michigan.
Original Contract Time
Phase 1 – 240 Days
Phase 2 – 120 Days
Time of Construction
Phase 1 – 118 Days
Phase 2 – 26 Days”
What would this be referring to?

I believe there was an entire thread about that plaque sometime last year.

Thanks. I did search the archives but must not be using good keywords.

I pass by that area everyday and have not noticed the plaque. I even tried to find it using street view, but no luck. Can you be more specific to the location?
Also, there is a way to search the forums? How? There is no obvious "search" button anywhere. I see a way to search the thread, but no way to search the forums.

I have no more information than that myself.
As for searching, at the bottom of this page you will see the link to search the site.

Thanks for the reply. I did find that search link at the bottom of the page.

IIRC, the plaque is in honor of those who built the I-375 freeway.

I was stuck in traffic heading home, and I glanced to my right and lo and behold... I believe this is the plaque? I had never really noticed it before. It's before you pass Crains.
