Hopefully this is just the beginning! As someone that deals in OEM auto parts it's astonishing to see how many parts and vehicles have gone from production in the U.S to Mexico over the last decade. The weakened Peso is only making the export of these US jobs more appealing, so I'm glad to see we may now have someone in Washington with the abilty to do something about it.
Nope. Not what it seems. If one listens to that report, rather than read that deceptive headline, Ford simply reshuffled plans. Instead of building a new plant they are expanding an existing plant in Hermosillo, Mexico.
“Ford had originally planned to build its Ford Focus in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.[the new plant] The company said it will continue to build its Focus at an existing plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, to improve company profitability.”
The expansion of the Flat Rock plant is a completely separate and unrelated project.[battery and autonomous]. For all we know that was already in the works. By announcing the two together they deceive one into thinking they have backed out of Mexico.
No jobs are being brought back. The 700 in Flat Rock are new and would not have gone to the now cancelled plant/expanded plant in Hermosillo.
You are, of course, right....
A big U-turn for Ford
The news is a major U-turn for Ford. Last year, the company announced it would invest $1.6 billion in Mexico to transfer the production of the Ford Focus from Michigan to Mexico to save costs. Now the Focus will be built at an existing plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, and Ford will expand its plant in Flat Rock
"This is a vote of confidence" in Trump and the economy, said Fields. We are "encouraged by pro growth policies, particularly reform around tax and regulatory policies."
Trump repeatedly slammed Ford on the campaign trail, claiming the company was moving good manufacturing jobs to Mexico. He vowed to slap a 35% tariff on Ford vehicles made in Mexico and sold in the U.S., although experts say it is not possible for Trump do that to a single U.S. company.
More Deceptive Headlines:
http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/02/politi...tee-amendment/
You can downplay the significance of these changes, but Ford's decision to cancel the new plant in Mexico is a big deal! This might not be jobs coming back from Mexico [[yet), but the announcement alone shows that Trump's threats and public shaming are influencing their actions.
They could care less about Trump, other than using him as PR foil. Here is the real story of why they are not building a new Focus plant but are building a new addition to Hermosillo. Focus sales are cratering.

Ford is making lemonade out of lemons. As mentioned above, the Flat Rock hiring is not something they do on the spot. Combining it with a totally unrelated cut back [and Not a cessation] to building new plant space in Mexico is pure PR.
Mark Fields announced back on 9-16-16, that Ford would be moving all small car production to Mexico, citing cost prohibiting production here in the States. That means one of two things, either this PR show was setup 3 months ago figuring Donald would be the next President, or, Ford's marketing and sales department was totally unaware of your declining small car sales chart. Perhaps Mark and Bill should start reading DetroitYES! posts instead?

It's going to be great. Trump is already running rings round these stupid Democtats and he isn't even President yet [[incidentally where's Obama?). I heard the funniest aside on Fox News today [[THAT'S FOX NEWS); Trump had just TWEETED that a fourteen year old could have hacked into the DNC and it was claimed by Fox that Podesta's password was PASSWORD - and this is representative of the idiots that have been in charge!!!.

As a Trump voter, I have to observe that his "Twitterings" have been juvenile and non-Presidential . I do hope he ceases. In Detroit terms, "Quit that shit, Donald!".
I think he is where he is at because people were not looking for a politician, personally I would rather deal with his tweets with a grain of salt or form of amusement at the reactions, then a politician that smiles at me and promises the world while stabbing me in the back.
Imagine the relief awakening from a nightmare that Gary Busey had somehow managed to become President of The United States. Whew. But then YIKES!!

No wonder Trump hates on the media: they are all ultra leftwing bashers of the capitalist agenda, beginning with Forbes.
Yeah this is nothing new and yes it is wrong. Some of the D.'s appointees are political concessions to the RNC. That is the ugly side of politics. Money making is another ugly side to politics that we would like to eliminate or at least limit as greed is a basic human nature.
Congress is exempt from inside trading rules and even when they write new laws to check themselves, they usually have an out. Some on the left side of the isle are the biggest money makers of this game.

If you cross the border into the States, you buy insurance for the period of Travel, otherwise, you may be covered by employee health insurance plans. My wife and I both have our insurance that covers our younger son when traveling abroad. Also, provincial Health insurance plans here will pay for certain medical acts, surgery in the US when the same treatment is not available or the wait times are deemed too long in the host province.
Trump unwittingly endorses Australia's universal health care, sends Bernie Sanders reeling with laughter:
Bernie Sanders Responds to Donald Trump's Claim That Australia Has Better Health Care
It may seem cruel to laugh at the mentally ill but if he is truly Donald Trump, the Dunning-Kruger President, he won't be offended anyway.
what an embarrassment he is. Turnbull smirking right at him too.
General Flynn can't be blackmailed no more. It's out. He's out.
The Kushner family is sucking Chinese investors into their building projects by peddling investor immigrant status. Sounds like Canadian scheming to me. How subtle.
You do know that Bernie wouldn't have won either because there were enough Clinton supporters to shut him down. Although, Clinton supporters probably would have been loyal to the party and swallowed the vote for the greater good unlike Bernie supporters who cut their noses off to spite their faces.
Also, it wasn't HIS DNC. Bernie only became part of the DNC when it was advantageous for him to do so; he was always an Independent until he thought he could use the DNC to actually have a CHANCE of winning. And he's back to Independent now. Surprise, surprise.
Bernie had way more popular support then Mrs. Clinton ever imagined, that's why her and the DNC had to resort to her usual underhanded tricks to get the nomination and make a run for office. Issue was people soon became disenchanted with her nonsense and being played. Their moves certainly worked out for them, didn't they?
I have two kids in college and we all know that that generation was all for Bernie. But from what my kids have told me and from what I've seen on social media, after Bernie was out, a lot of them didn't vote at all! I'm not sure how much of an impact they would have had but unfortunately, look what the outcome was.
Speaking of "nonsense", look what happened yesterday with the firing of Comey. The guy who was praised by Trump during his campaign. Ya think Trump and his cronies were getting a little nervous about the Russian investigation? Sure they are. Trump has no business appointing a new FBI director. None. Actually, he has no business being in the White House.
Such a short memory... @ the time, still being a member of the DNC, he was coerced by Mrs. Clinton and the DNC, into throwing his support behind Mrs. Clinton, after being railroaded. He did so half-heartedly, and for a short period of time. Like I posted earlier, people realized they've been had, and Mrs. Clinton continued to speak to the ranks like they were retards. This upset a lot of voters. Couple that with the fact she was fed answers to debate questions beforehand, and all her other shenanigans, and it turned off a lot of people. The best message she could come up with in her campaign was "we need to stop Trump". Oh really? Thanx for the update. I guess she can always go back to defending accused rapists.
EB-5 program has been around a long time, any foreign investor has been aware of it for over 25 years.
Detroit is listed as a EB-5 green zone for at least 10 years, one of a few.
Way before the elections even started Mr Snyder went to China to push the EB-5 program and encourage investment in Detroit.Nobody said boo.
I have U.K. Friends that came here under the EB-5 program in the late 80s and early 90s.
Every country in the world has a financial program to buy residency rights.
I can imagine if somebody saw a red ant crawling around it would be all over the news and social media that Mr Trump is working with Russia and useing the ants as spies.
90% of the anti Trump stuff tends to appear as a bunch of temper tantrums that becomes amusing at times because it shows that all that it takes is a catchy headline and a lot will just fall in line doing zero research becoming minions for a fake cause.
Welcome to Trump World. While democrats and their media are wallowing in their own bile, hatred and lies, Donald is doing stuff and loving it and laughing at them. Typically, Illegals/migrants and "refugees" are way down and he hasn't passed any legislation on it yet. Let's hope the democrats can keep it up until the mid-term elections so they reap the reward they deserve for their efforts. Hope they don't make themselves ill before we get there. Also let's hope Pelosi, Schumer et al can hold on to their "leadership" positions.
"I have long believed that a President can fire an FBI director for any reason, or for no reason at all.”"I’m not going to spend time on the decision or the way it was executed." “I hope you won’t either. It is done, and I will be fine, although I will miss you and the mission deeply.”
-Former FBI Director James Comey 5/10/17 as reported by CNN
"I do not have confidence in [[Comey) any longer," -Sen. Chuck Schumer 11/2/16
"Maybe [[Comey is) not in the right job," -Pelosi 11/2/16
Asked if Comey should resign. "Of course, yes," -Harry Ried 12/10/16
"The FBI director has no credibility," -Rep. Maxine Waters
The difference is with Eva,she is still loved and honored 50 some years after her passing,50 years from now Hillary will be remembered in case studies about elections.
I wonder if they replaced the FBI director with a Hoover wannabe if the movie celebrities would be backing him.
This, of course, is not the issue. I'm surprised it keeps being discussed like it's a valid counterpoint. He should have been cut loose, yes. Long ago. But he wasn't. He wasn't until now, much deeper into the investigation. That is an ethical issue. This issue is not that he was canned. It is the timing.
Let's grow up and think critically.
The democrats and media are so stupid and blindly consumed by hate that they don't see the irony of Trump firing Comey "because he's getting too close to finding [[the non existent) collusion with the Russians" on the very same day he was receiving the Russian Foreign Minister at the WH. I'm sure they were both laughing at the democrats from behind closed doors over a vodka.
Trump is pulling their chain and reveling in it.
Let's go to one of your leaders, Maxine Waters, for a dose of her most recent critical thinking. Rep. Waters wanted Comey fired until she didn't but now she has qualified that. "If [[Hillary) had won the White House, I believe that given what he did to her, and what he tried to do, she should have fired him. Yes.) -5/10/17
I don't know if it's 'the' issue, at least with you, but Democratic hypocricy is an issue. It was amazing to witness the turn around of Democratic pillars who days before were lamenting Hillary's loss as being due to Comey all shifting direction and narrative in unison. Now we are to pretend that if only Comey had stayed around a little longer, the failed Russian behind every tree narrative would be flushed out. Personally, I liked detente with Russia even before the Democratic Party became the new home of neocons under SOS Clinton and President Obama.
While Democrats, save Tulsi Gabbard and maybe Bernie, have been making a mess of detente and are trying to grab hold of any passing barge promising to vilify Trump and Russia, Russia's foreign minister Lavrov reported that his meeting with Trump went well.
"I would say that our dialogue as of now is free from ideology that was very typical for [Barack] Obama's administration. "Both Mr Trump and the secretary of state of his administration, as I realized today once again, are businesslike people and they want to reach agreements.""The goal of both President Trump and [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin is to have concrete results which will be tangible and which will allow us to alleviate problems, including on the international agenda."
The US press was so busy trying to make an issue of the legal firing of Comey that it must not have had time to cover the good news that Trump and Lavrov stepped back and away from a nuclear Armageddon. A Trump-Puting meeting is now scheduled for July. The Wash. Post, owned by the world's richest man, described the Lavrov meeting as 'strange'. The NY Times used the word 'awkward'. If Democrats and establishment Republicans want to continue to be irrelevant and have tantrums in their imaginary neocon world, that's ok but try not to break any furniture.
I have never done anything wrong in my lifetime.

We come in peace, until 10-6- 16.
I'm thinking you mean election day in November 2018 but if you have a time machine to repair the last election or whatever happened in October of 2016, I would be more interested in hearing about that.
If you did mean the election of 11/18, I would argue that Democrats have long ago discarded any fig leaf of peace. I'm thinking about Antifa brown shirt violence, black lives matter riots, people prevented from picking up their youngsters, going home from work, and old people who need to get to a bathroom because of leftist roadblocks, Democrats' newfound reverence for Senator McCain, all the neocons who globbed onto Hillary, and hundreds of thousands of dead and millions of refugee mid-easterners as the result of SOS Clinton/Pres. Obama policies. Consequently, portraying Democrats as coming in peace is a hard sell. Sorry, Bernie, Gabbard, and Kucinich supporters but you are outnumbered.
I did see this article suggesting that Democrats switch their narrative from the failed anti-Russian diatribe to a Trump is crazy rant because the latter would be easier to set up. "The Resistance changes its attack from "Russian puppet" to "Trump is crazy" - which works best?" Maybe that would work better for you guys.

Michael Moore Has a New Plan to 'Destabilize' Trump's PresidencyThere is some recent new activity on mmflint's YouTube channel. Here's one of many of my recently resurrected favorites:Quote:
No matter what you throw at him, it hasn't worked. No matter what is revealed, he remains standing. Facts, reality, brains cannot defeat him. Even when he commits a self-inflicted wound, he gets up the next morning and keeps going and tweeting. That all ends with this movie.
Our only hope is for Americans to collectively move but withhold our forwarding address from Trump. ;)
Yes. The word for it is: it's Unamerican.
Freedom is expressed in the wish to own more guns and have less insurance or doing without any. Freedom is all about striking down regulatory measures to ease corporate penetration pretty much like vaseline does: kneel and take it.
I liked Michael Moore in his fist movie taking on GM. I was turned off by a more recent movie of Moore's in which he found it necessary to insult dementia ridden Charlton Heston. A couple of years ago, Moore was estimated to be worth about $50M for his efforts. [[Power to the people!)
Why take shots at Americans? Democrats don't support single payer plans either. Otherwise blue states would have legislated their own single payer plans and Obamacare bureaucrats wouldn't have shot down Vermont's proposed single payer plan. Over 50% of US gun homicides are in 2% of US counties so you are probably inadvertently criticizing certain US demographics which could be a 'hate crime' in Canada. In the US, we are instead lucky enough to have guaranteed free speech and freedom of the press. The advantage of allowing people to say ugly things is that sometimes problems can be worked out instead of being driven underground if we are aware of where others are coming from.
His take on reality ignores contributing factors that play a role in decision making to conveniently demonize his subject matter, Like GM or the healthcare industry. That is why his movies are not documentaries but instead socialist propaganda. Hypocrite because of the money he makes from the objects he criticizes. IMHO.
I get it. Making money from painting an unholy portrait is hypocritical. Is Michael Moore shooting commercials for the car or health industry or is he not doing a simple job of expressing his OHO about such. If he is making money, he must have people opening up to his work and message. Money only gives him more of a structure to keep plugging at subjects he wants to focus on in the future like GM does when designing prototypes.
Why would.a socialist not be allowed to make money? A true socialist will be more willing to part with some of it so more people benefit from his and others' collective wealth.
Best Onion prank ever:
BREAKING: President Trump's Executive Order Shutting Down 'The Onion'.
'Covfefe' tells you all you need to know about Donald Trump
Then Spicer compounded the mystery with: "The president and a small group of people know exactly what he meant."
Here's my theory: some unknown prankster [[Melania, were you there?) asked Trump if he could use the word "covfefe" in a sentence. Trump, being Trump, couldn't resist the challenge and the rest is history.
I am thinking he has a Iphone and it just inserted or changed the words to what it feels like much like mine,he was tired and did not check every word and sent it,of course it is funny about people freak out over a misspelled word like it is a nuclear attack or something.

Meanwhile, back in 1958.....http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politi...cid=spartanntp
Politics in general is getting pretty old. Same scenario when Obama was in office. Instead of trying to get something done, both sides sat down, dug their heels in, started name calling, and, like packs of monkeys, flinging poop @ each other. What are we paying these guys for?
Quote:
Shock. It’s a word that has come up a lot since November— for obvious reasons.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about shock. Ten years ago, I published “The Shock Doctrine,” an investigation that spanned four decades from Pinochet’s U.S.-backed coup in 1970s Chile to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
I noticed a brutal and recurring tactic by right wing governments. After a shocking event – a war, coup, terrorist attack, market crash or natural disaster – exploit the public’s disorientation. Suspend democracy. Push through radical “free market” policies that enrich the 1 percent at the expense of the poor and middle class.
The Trump administration is creating chaos. Daily. Of course many of the scandals are the result of the president’s ignorance and blunders – not some nefarious strategy.
But there is also no doubt that some savvy people around Trump are using the daily shocks as cover to advance wildly pro-corporate policies that bear little resemblance to what Trump pledged on the campaign trail.
And the worst part? This is likely just the warm up.
We need to focus on what this Administration will do when it has a major external shock to exploit.
Here's a 5-step plan.
I really do not think it is president Trump at all,I think that when she lost, they kidnapped him and what we are seeing is a imposter put in place to destroy and destabilize the Republican Party.
Seems plausible enough when all you really have to do is print something and people believe it.
The whole media aspect of things like what was discussed in a phone conversation between your president Trump and the queen of England.
Does the media have direct access to CIA listening posts or is the CIA in collusion with the media to overthrow the US government and take control, while playing some like a deck of cards.
There was collusion with Russia,we have not heard the results of the investigation yet and really have no proof, but I do not like the guy so it must be true because WAPO said it was.
The media now has American blood on thier hands and now that they tasted it they want more and they will not be happy until the ratings improve and bring more clicks to what was a rapidly declining death spiral of thier own.
Step 2: Daddy will not protect you.
Actualy my daddy passed on 10 years ago and I never needed anyone to protect me,from age 15.
For some of the Trump haters,I will not mention any names,
Step 1: Admitting that you have a problem is the first step to fixing the problem.
The Democratic Party imploded on thier own accord and instead of organizing and regrouping they have chosen the path of self destruction and extinction.
Instead of looking in the mirror, choosing to find blame everywhere else.
Which is kinda sad because the founders did set up a two party system for checks and balances,I guess they never invisioned the massive tears aspect.
Maybe the Democratic Party can hook up with the Tea Party,at least in the U.K. They were organized enough to collect 900 votes in the currant election, maybe they can be a mentor on organizing, one does have to start somewhere.
I was always considered an independent but is does appear that the Democratic side prefers to push the independents to lean republican.
It is funny how the Democrats like to call Trump racist but yet I live in a heavy Blue city that still systematically likes to keep people segregated,so everybody knows to stay in thier zones.
I have nothing against Democrats,Republicans,Bernie Sanders or even who or what the tea party really is,it is a supposed free country and everybody is entitled to vote for who they believe in without recourse.
It is already clear that only one side agrees with that, which to me anyways is a bit hypocritical.
Sometimes it is kinda like the little bully at the beach,he cannot build a sandcastle so he goes around destroying everybody's else's figuring if he cannot have one nobody can.
It is probably easier that way then actually building his own,but then he would actually have to make an attempt to do so.
Do not like Trump,no problem, vote him out in the next election.
But at the currant rate of grasping at straws and pissing and moaning instead of trying to rebuild a party, you may get eight years of trying because your handing him the next election already.
I just found out yesterday that Chelsea Clinton's father in law is a convicted felon who served years in jail for fraud. Also, Ivanka Trump's father in law Charles Kushner served time in prison for unsavory stuff too. I guess it runs in little circles. Chelsea and Ivanka are great pals in spite of the mudslinging btwn Hilary and Donald. One thing they all have in common; a great faith in the dollar sign. They will do anything for a buck.
There is an interesting article about Ivanka's clothing manufactured in Indonesia in the Guardian newspaper this week. 178$ a month wages for women making these expensive garments. Let's make Indonesia great again.
Trump ordered the appointment of a family friend, a wedding planner to the Federal office of housing development for NY and NJ.
Good thing these women live in Indonesia and not Canada, eh? What is a living wage in Indonesia?
http://www.averagesalarysurvey.com/indonesia
According to this article, the factory where her stuff is made is in a province with one of the lowest minimum wage scales in the country. You don't maximize profits from cheap labor if your laborers aren't treated like the dirt under their feet, do you now? Dang Muslims after all, for the most part. The same folks Trump wants to stop at the border need to stay where they are for good use... Lolorama.
Revealed: reality of life working in an Ivanka Trump clothing factory
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...thing-factory?
I would prefer that the US produced thier own goods, but the general public seems to prefer cheap.
It is funny how all people talk about not paying the locals overseas a living wage by US standards seem to overlook two things.
#1 Pay them a living wage according to US standards and you will no longer be able to buy cheap products.
#2 Close the factories and they go back to eating dirt.Because there are no other options.
There you go,sounds like a plan, pay them more so our fellow citizens get paid less and are forced to buy cheaper products which gives them job security over there. The cycle of self destruction continues.
Yup, Ford cancelled its plan to outsource production of the Ford Focus to Mexico...and instead they are outsourcing it to China.
