Charter Commission Special Meeting Notice

Please note that this meeting is in addition to the Tuesday, August 24th regular Charter Commission meeting

Notice of Special Meeting, Tuesday, August 31, 2010 @ 6:00pm
Northwest Activities Center, 18100 Meyers [[Ballroom Suite)
Detroit, MI 48235

Purpose:

- Receive nominations & vote on candidacy to fill a member vacancy
- Discuss & deliberate issues relating to receiving nominations & voting on an officer vacancy
- Discuss, deliberate & vote on the continuing phases of the charter revision process

This is an open meeting and members of the public are encouraged to attend

I think they should just appoint the 10th place vote-getter, Tonya Myers-Phillips, to Hendrix's seat, or hold a special election for the slot in November. I don't get why this process of nominating people who did not even bother making their case in the municipal election is necessary.

As for Hendrix's decision to step down for the casino board position, I'll reserve comment.

Yeah, well, money talks, I s'pose. It's hard to blame someone for taking care of #1 in a down economy, but it's no great feat of public service.
