The tattoo on body parts found last week in a sanitary sewer line may be 15 to 20 years old and is starting to blur, tattoo experts told Sterling Heights police.
Police have been working to determine to whom the body parts belong since they were found Aug. 15 when crews were clearing a platform in the line, which stretches from Oakland County to Detroit. The 10 body parts belong to a Caucasian, but police don't know whether the person is male or female or the person's age, Lt. Luke Riley said.
Authorities said the body parts likely were dumped upstream and floated down in wastewater. Based on their condition, the parts likely were not in the line for long, Riley said.
