Since Windsor annexed more open farmland east of the their airport. It's time for developers to come in make some jet plane sound proof housing and business. This is going to be tricky because building housing and business near any airport will be bothersome.

At least folks in Romulus, MI. did the right thing not to develop any more suburban sprawl near DTW. Long ago some crazy develop want to put some kind of 'Aerotropolis' that didn't work.

It's best to leave Romulus and DTW as is. Keep to open country and let the noisy planes fly in and out.
Airports in this country ended up spending millions in order to sound proof nearby homes when they sought approval to add more runways due to growth.
Areotroplis is still an ongoing thing,they just changed the name,it was DOA without the new bridge,once that is done it will crank up again,but they still have been building distribution centers and mapping out for hotels etc.
The fairgrounds property will kick off after the bridge is completed.
They just do not publicize everything they are building,like with this airport,people spend their days figuring 20 years ahead.
I don't see any more Aerotropolis development going on near the DTW other than fewer Amazon-like concrete factory buildings. Keep housing and business development near the DTW in Romulus to a minimum. Romulus is fine being a open country suburb.

But until the bridge is actually open,people are not going to as a rule put up hundreds of millions based on if and when it opens.
