Gentrification vs Historic preservation

After the yuppies came the multi-millionaires. And unfortunately hundreds of historic rental structures will fall to more mega-mansions. Even brownstones constructed as recent as 1994 are facing the wrecking ball. The post below makes me sad:

Some of the replacements are okay. Others not so much. Here's a photo of some new structures that replaced older buildings:

I guess they're an okay substitute but it's still sad to see perfectly good buildings fall. Practically everything around there is orange rated, so it's uphill battle to save many of these buildings from replacement.
