Packard Proving Grounds: Open House - Sunday, Oct. 19th

Please join us this Sunday, October 19 for an Open House at the Packard Proving Grounds.

Time: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Location: 49965 Van Dyke Avenue, Shelby Township, MI – West side of Van Dyke, half way between 22 Mile Road and 23 Mile Road.

The weather promises to be a nice fall day with NO rain and temps in the lower 50s.

Plenty of Packards will be on display and you are welcome to cruise on in with your collector car. Tours of the historic buildings will run throughout the day and we have plenty of activities for the kids to do.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Ankara Industries the Johnny Trudell Band will be back playing the swing hits of the Big Band era.

And the best thing – the price of admission is FREE.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Yep, those are some great videos on how Packard Proves a Packard in 1930 – 10,000 miles in 10 days at an average speed of 68 mph.

In your first screen capture you see gate keeper Jim Louker checking the car into the Proving Grounds. Along with him is Fritz the dog owned by the Charles Vincent family that lived onsite. Charles was the Vice President of Proving Grounds and lived there until shortly after the start of WWII.

For those who have never been, or haven't been in a while, a highly recommended event.

Thanks to all who helped put this on. I enjoyed the ride in the 1926 Packard.
