End of holiday traffic
Remembering so many times going south on I-75 from "up north" on a day like this, I have to chuckle from my adopted Las Vegas home as I watch all the Los Angelenos folks trek back to lala land today. It's basically a 200 mile drive at 20 mph. This shot from around 12:30 p.m. PDT. Oh....and, it's desert. Only two gas stops between here and Cajon Pass, leading into the LA area.

Amazing. I drove that stretch of road back and forth in 1990 and remember seeing that paddleboat casino in the middle of the night heading for Vegas. Didnt know about this heavy traffic phenom Ray.

Yep, pretty much every Sunday afternoon [[or after a holiday). The number of people from southern California that spend a weekend in Las Vegas is really substantial.

I did that I-15 drive more than a few times when I lived in North Hollywood...but only a few on Sunday nights. Twice after the January Consumer Electronics Show, if I remember right.
I was horrified that the traffic was as dense, but they were mostly all driving NINETY miles per hour! With a car length between each. I wouldn't play that game, so I was one of the few lumps in the flow...which irritates most traffic engineers.
But with such little space between cars, a 200-car instantaneous pileup was a certainty...I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet, I guess everyone driving 20mph now must've helped some!
Cheers
