Agreed with the above. None of the other *potential* mayors in city government would be able to handle the gig. Whoever succeeds Duggan eventually, I hope, does not come from city government.
Glad to see it, I think Mr. Duggan has done a fine job and things are slowly but steadily improving. Those of you who have read my humble posts over the years know that your kindly old professor is a bit of a transit wonk, so little things like restoring 24 hour service and restoring service to Belle Isle mean a lot.Quote:

I don't think there was any doubt on this one. He has done a pretty good job just getting things back on track that other cities would never have thought to be an issue [[streetlights anyone?). He needs to continue to drive Detroit as a destination for business and residents, but I do agree, there needs to be a big push over this term to bring attention to neglected areas of the city through blight removal, redevelopment, job programs, etc. He himself said he needed to be judged on Detroit's population numbers and stemming the loss of residents, so lets see where that goes over the next 4 years.
