''Lost Detroit' - Dan Austin + Sean Doerr book
[Please 'scuse me if this echoes another thread -- tough to keep up sometimes.]
Time isn't the only newsweekly focusing on Detroit. Interesting video titled 'More Than Just Ruins' [[5:30) went up Wednesday at Newsweek's site, featuring our own Dan Austin [[BuildingsOfDetroit) and photographer Sean Doerr talking about . . . well, topics that are mighty familiar here.
Their new book, Lost Detroit, explores the history of 12 abandoned buildings.
The polished, well-edited video also includes comments from photographer Kristine Diven, a recent NYC transplant. They all comment on the risks, ethics and "ruin porn" exploitation of shooting where they do.
Videography credits: Stephen McGee and Sarah Frank.
[Again, sorry if I'm stepping on another thread.]
On WDET today . . . and other book launch events
Dan and Sean talk about their 'Lost Detroit' book with Craig Fahle at 11 a.m. THIS morning [[Wed., 9/15) and here:
Good Q&A with them went up at Time's blog today, with a name-these-buildings challenge at the end that more than a few DY forumers should nail. As of now, you still can be first.
