Building Question...

Curious about the origin of a couple of buildings of the same design...

The current FitnessUSA location in West Dearborn at 23080 Michigan Avenue and an identical vacant building on Vernier Road in Harper Woods across from Eastland. White buildings, bright gold colored brickwork under the windows, large covered "porte-cochere" type entrance, setback/mansard-type roof. Curious as to the original use of the buildings - were they always gyms? Restaurants? Retail? Possible that there may be other buildings of this type around...always wondered! Thanks!

Thanks. Considering they're suburban sites, they are reasonably interesting buildings, lots of detail, etc, in the design/construction.
