Michigan mass transit
The Michigan Department of Transportation will receive funds to replace aging diesel buses with zero-emission electric buses and related charging station infrastructure, and provide maintenance and first responder training for the new technology.
$6,393,031
Does not sound like much, but when you consider there was only one state that received a higher amount it appears somebody is looking out for the state despite being told otherwise.

Is MDOT spending this money on something? Or funneling it so local DOT's? I didn't think MDOT had any bus infrastructure.

I cannot find the link again, but apparently dot has a service of small buses and shuttles that they use to transport the elderly and handicapped to clinics etc.
They are converting those over to electric.
We have the same thing provided by the county,it’s a part of the regular bus service and funded by the county and state.
If you are elderly or handicapped you can call them and they pick you up at your house in handicapped vans and the little shorty busses at no charge to go to doctors and such,it seemed to be a program much like that.
You guys are having a hard time with getting an RTA established, one could do a 501c non profit transit initiative and receive funding from the FTA and use those funds to establish a foothold and support.
There will be other companies that will donate funds for the write off,the way it looks unless somebody really takes it to the next level, not much will change when it comes to mass transit, can’t be sitting there waiting for somebody else to make it happen.
