Ya know, it's funny. I can't even taste the difference in most common fish.

Was once told by a bartender at Tom's Oyster Bar, which has decent perch, that most of it comes from Lake Winnipeg now because the Great Lakes were overfished.
If Asian Carp get into the Great Lakes there won't be any fish worth eating from any of of them.

I personally think Chick's on W. Warren in Detroit has very good perch. Maybe just Friday nights though. It's a great dive with decent food.

I like the Clawson Steakhouse, in Clawson.
Rattlesnake Club and Steve and Rocky's in Novi is the best I've had.
I third Pat O'Brien's. I also had an excellent perch dinner at the Caucus Club.
Mr. Paul's is on Groesbeck near 12 Mile in Roseville.
Not in Detroit but Omalley's Galley up in Fenton has great Perch and other fresh fish as well including Walleye.

For the Oakland County folks, Highland House on M-59 in Highland serves perch during Lent. The best!

Andrew's downtown has great perch, Tom's Oyster Bar also has yummy perch.
Ivanhoes isn't as good as it used to be.
Not in Detroit, but the best perch in the world, Duffy's of Amhearstberg. Eat in the bar, not the resturant. Same food, better price.

Best perch I ever had was at Pinky's. Bartender there knew how to pour too - every drink was a double. I walked out of there bombed a few times.
Well the best perch is not at the David Whitney. When I was there last year we went and my perch was under cooked and cold. I expected better from a high end resturant,.

Best I ever had was the lake perch beautifully golden-fried at the Knights of Columbus hall, in St. Clair Shores [[on Jefferson near 11 Mile, I think,) on Friday evenings, way back in the 60's.
A long time ago, sure, but who knows? Maybe the place is still there, and they still do it.
Don't be mad at me when I admit that my brother and I used to dip it in ketchup. I would use tartar sauce, now, but it doesn't matter; the stuff was terrific, even sans condiment.

The Red Horse Inn in Carleton had great perch the night we tried it. As good as up north.
During Lent. ST. Veronicas in Eastpointe has a great perch dinner. Plus alot of side dishes. It's a must!
