even if meant in jest? A little too far to carry dont you think?
The actual speech is quite mild, only alluding to big government and redistribution of wealth by way of "fairness" in 2 total instances.
However, this is exactly as I predicted, a very benign speech that establishes the precedent and puts the foot in the door for future indoctrinations.
Fortunately, we are on guard.
Do we not teach our children to share form the moment they come into this world? Now you want to backstep?
CC, CC,CC, dude, really. Stop being so greedy. Equally taxation increases across the board will help do wonders for our brothers and sisters.
It may even help you make a few more friends because more people would be happier.
I assume your are religious, a christian? Maybe you should practice its teachings a bit more closer.
Sharing is not the same as allowing government to take from one and give to another. Sharing is beneficial to both parties over the long run, and VOLUNTARY. You should share, you MUST pay taxes.
Activist right wing parents are silencing the majority, and must be stopped, as it will lead to fascism and dictatorships.
He isn't being silenced Detroitej72...aren't you paying attention?
Preposterous, they are not interested in silencing him, they are interested in expressing their concerns and possibly using this to cause some political damage.
All the more reason to call out the fascists for what they are. Ridicule and stating facts will do more to put these freaks in their place.
Either they stop the fascist food fight, or we send them to detention.
Or possibly to a 24 hour drag show, consisting of 72 faux virgins.
What more can be said? The nutjobs that still dont want their kids to hear the speech even after it has been proved to be all sugar and honey pie have no choice other than to live with the fact that their kids will eventually hear it.
Whether it be from other kids or on youtube.
Get over it. He is the president and he has every right to address the kids.
He has earned it Even more so now that he flipped through hoops to calm your uneasiness.
Oh, did I forget to mention that Obama and company deserve a great deal of political damage?
If you're nearly as sharp as I am, then you could exact such damage.
I have been working non-stop for 8 years making sure the frauds follies and felonies of the Bush Crime Family are exposed, so at the very least, this group of anti-American traitors are remembered as the most fascist lowlife bunch of thugs ever to seize power in this country.
If you're that good, bring it.
It seems to me that the poisonous vitriol coming from the right is about 10x more nasty and pervasive than anything the left did while Bush was president He did get a lot of slack during his first year on account of 9-11.
And when I see Dick Cheney going around claiming the Tush policies "kept us safe for 8 years" I wonder what they think 9/11 was all about?
It happened on their watch, without taking precautions mandated by the intelligence received from the Clinton Administration. Just read Richard Clarke's book, he was the chief terrorism czar in charge of intellignece which was handed over to the Tushies.
The Bush Crime Family committed treason by not acting on that intelligence and allowing 9/11 to happen. This, of course cemented their reasoning for going into an illegal war for oil in Iraq. There is no doubt about this, as it's been documented thoroughly.
Lorax, it appears you have pissed away 8 years of your life, for all the "good" you've done [[except for bringing us a few needed laughs.) Quite a waste of your claimed brilliance I'd say.
Its nice to be born with a silver spoon in one's mouth. While I think he gave a good speech that 95% of parents could agree with, there is something a little disingenuous about presenting himself as Abe Lincoln or Swiss Family Obama homeschooling at 4:30am because his mother couldn't afford to send little Barack to the foreigner's school. Maybe that went on for four or five years but the next 14 years of Barack's education was at expensive private schools that would require over $300,000 of tuition at today's rates at those same schools. Its lucky his grandmother was a bank vice-president.
Most of the kids he spoke to will not have the same options available. It was a good speech all the same.
This about youth scholarship, so temporarily set aside your scepticism and consider all this from their perspective. Of course it could be considered "nice" to have the ability to receive the education your parent deems optimal. And of course given the option, most would likely prefer a silver spoon in terms of wanting quality that money can avail. He was saying to the youth that whatever their station, their education is the major difference maker for themselves. This why he alluded to and warned of the false hopes that so easily befall.
And he stated that he is working hard on their behalf to improve educational opportunities for all children. All children, silver spoon, or not. Get it? This is not elitism. I will tell you this, there are some parents who could send their children to elite schools, and opt not to do so.
If this is how we are going to now qualify disingenuous [[redefining smart?), then we can start a very, very long list of many other disingenuous situations and realities everywhere in our society. Let us not get started on that because it would be far to time consuming, and for what purpose?
Some of what you assert here on DYes could be qualified as academic, so your scepticism in this particular discussion is inconsistent.
