i could easily mention the frank lloyd wright houses in detroit and bloomfield hills, but since FLW is not a lesser-known architect, i'll instead mention alden dow's [[sadly now-demolished) saunders house at 1050 orchard ridge rd in bloomfield hills [[a friend of mine from highschool grew up in that house, and having spent a good deal of time there, i can only say that i'm not sure which is a bigger shame - that it was torn down in the first place, or the oversized mcmansion that was plopped down in its place):

also worth mentioning is that, several pages back, a couple different people posted a series of sketches of estates in bloomfield hills by bloodgood tuttle. while i don't know about all of them, i do know that the one called "Muzzey house" was built, and still stands, at 4303 lahser rd [[on the east side of the road, between lone pine and long lake.
[[i apologize for the aerial shot - not only is it not very easy to see the house from the road, but while i grew up in birmingham, i live in boston now, not so easy to photograph houses in bloomfield hills from the east coast.)
