Yet some selecting of what's locks down/ who's ticketed is sometimes a bit odd.

Perhaps not.
"Early treatment with hydroxychloroquine cut the death rate significantly in certain sick patients hospitalized with COVID-19 — and without heart-related side effects, according to a new study published by Henry Ford Health System."

AJ, when they say "spinning is good exercise" they don't mean facts. At the time Trump mentioned that possibility [[and that's all he did) the FDA had approved hydroxychloroquine for testing, as a possible antidote for C-19. A number of people that were on their deathbeds from C-19 were given the drug, and recovered. When issues with the drug began showing up in other patients, the FDA changed their original stance.
The FDA approved a stage III clinical trial by Novartis for the use of hydroxychloroquine on patients hospitalized with covid-19. An emergency use authorization was also issued by the FDA for the off-label use of hydroxychloroquine to treat covid-19. Patients may have recovered while being treated with hydoxychloroquine, but there is no evidence that the drug helped in their recovery The FDA quickly withdrew the emergency authorization:
"The FDA has a responsibility to regularly review the appropriateness of an EUA, and as such, the agency will review emerging information associated with the emergency uses for the authorized products. Recent results from a large randomized clinical trial in hospitalized patients, a population similar to the population for which chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine were authorized for emergency use, demonstrated that hydroxychloroquine showed no benefit on mortality or in speeding recovery. This outcome was consistent with other new data, including data showing that the suggested dosing regimens for chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are unlikely to kill or inhibit the virus that causes COVID-19. The totality of scientific evidence currently available indicate a lack of benefit.
“While additional clinical trials continue to evaluate the potential benefit of these drugs in treating or preventing COVID-19, we determined the emergency use authorization was no longer appropriate. This action was taken following a rigorous assessment by scientists in our Center for Drug Evaluation and Research,” said Patrizia Cavazzoni, M.D., acting director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation. “We remain committed to using every tool at our disposal in collaboration with innovators and researchers to provide sick patients timely access to appropriate new therapies. Our decisions will always be based on objective and rigorous evaluation of the scientific data. This will never change.”
The facts are that Trump did far more than suggest the FDA approve a hydroxychloroquine clinical trial. He also endorsed the drug for covid-19 treatment. The orange-haired dumb one also became a guinea pig, and took hydroxychloroquine to prevent a possible infection. Perhaps that accounts for his continued physical decline and mental impairment.

BTW, the Novartis Clinical trial was cancelled because of an inability to recruit patients.
LOL, Dude,.. you can't [[shouldn't) use WA PO as a source. They don't even pretend to be impartial.
Locally a study just wrapped up at Henry Ford that showed Hydroxychloriquine doubled the survival rate of those in ICU with Covid. From 13% survival rate to 26%.
It's apparently hard on the heart, so they don't use it on Covid patients that have heart issues.
Mlive reported on the effectiveness of H:
Hydroxychloroquine is effective in treating COVID-19, says Henry Ford Health System study
https://www.mlive.com/news/2020/07/h...tem-study.html
The Henry Ford study was a retrospective cohort study, not a Randomized Controlled Trial, so take it with a grain of salt.
But yes, this is one study...among many, so you are free to cherry-pick as you like. If you want to take HCQ, then take it. I encourage you to do so. The bigger the dose, the better. Pair it up with those Clorox injections and some big powerful UV-C lights and you can't possibly lose.
Meanwhile, the WHO has dropped HCQ from all its clinical trials due to lack of efficacy.
https://www.marketwatch.com/story/wh...udy-2020-07-06
It's also important to point out exactly the circumstances under which the Henry Ford study found HCQ to be effective, namely as an early treatment for those whose conditions were severe enough to require hospitalization. If you think the Henry Ford study somehow validates popping HCQ as a prophylactic to ward off COVID like Trump was using it, you'd be wrong. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration specifically says NOT to do that. HCQ is currently only approved for use in clinical trial or in the hospital setting, any use outside of those two specific settings has been deemed by the FDA to be unreasonably dangerous.
^^^ I'd certainly not pair it up with the careless 'clorox' conversational ramblings of Trump. I'm not even full-out trusting of hospital doctrine and studies by default. But I'd like to see more studies beyond the Trump branding. If that's possible....
Who's spinning now? You're flat out lying. All Trump did was mention the "possibility" of HCQ as a treatment? He did a little bit more than that. He flat out called it's use a "miracle" and he [[allegedly) took it himself as a prophylactic and then sang its praises [[which, BTW, the FDA does not approve its use a preventive measure or any use outside of the hospital setting or clinical research setting). Trump also said that HCQ "doesn't kill people", which of course is a giant lie, as people have in fact died from heart complications from taking the drug in various COVID clinical trials [[Brazil had to halt a study there after too many study participants died from heart arrhythmia). And we know of at least one Trump-loving idiot in Arizona who drank chloroquine and died from it right after the President went on TV and sang its praises.
Former Republican Presidential candidate Herman Cain hospitalized with COVID-19 after attending Trump's Tulsa rally:
https://ktul.com/news/local/former-p...er-trump-rally
Given the timing of his hospitalization, it's probably not likely that he contracted it at the Tulsa rally, but more likely that he was already infected when he traveled there [[and therefore was shedding the virus at the rally itself). Trump rallies are just huge COVID petri dishes at this point.
Meanwhile another Trump campaign surrogate, Trump Jr. girlfriend [[and former mistress) Kimberly Guilfoyle, has also tested positive for COVID-19.
Her jaunts around the country to non-socially distancing campaign events have put a number of GOP officials in a bind, including Montana Senator Greg Gianforte who is facing a critical re-election battle to keep his seat and now has to skip the campaign trail for two weeks to self-isolate.
I think as the weeks go on, we're going to see more self-inflicted wounds as more and more Trump campaign staff and campaign surrogates either contact COVID or are waylaid with weeks of self-isolation after coming into contact with those who do.
^^^ No doubt about it. These rallies of large groups, close together are among the varied petri dishes of the COVID!

^^^ Oh my goodness! As I recall like some other politicians and leaders he did not take the virus seriously - withstanding his own nations very high numbers and DEATH RATE?!
From article:
Bolsonaro, 65, has repeatedly trivialized the pandemic and flouted social distancing, even as Brazil became the second-worst-hit country after the United States, with more than 65,000 deaths and 1.6m confirmed cases.
He called the virus a "fantasy" and "a little flu". He refused to wear a mask or socially distance. He feuded with state governors who imposed lockdowns or stay-at-home measures. He mocked public health measures to fight the virus. He attacked the news media's coverage of the pandemic. He promoted unproven treatments and cures. And he openly sided with and praised "anti-lockdown" protesters.
Sound like anyone we know? Karma's a real you-know-what and we know who it's coming for next.
Yep. In the meantime the virus caring little about your opinions or inaction or party does what it wants to do... SMH..........
Here is a list of 25 states... the top 12, and bottom 13 of states that shows their testing results. Again this is based only on testing, and is not a reliable metric of the whole population. This list came out yesterday [[7/7/20).
Michigan had a positive test result of 2.34% of the individuals tested, while on the high end of the spectrum Arizona had over 25% positive rate among those tested....
And on the local news this morning they had fla pegged at 9.5% but that one shows 18%.
Number of cases is higher but deaths are dropping dramatically.
Not sure why they cannot be a bit more specific when it comes to testing positive, before they said it spread by coughing and sneezing, now they say simply breathing spreads it.
Maybe in another year or so they will know exactly what it entails and we can enjoy many discussions based on hindsight.
Drastic and dramatic decisions are being made that effects 100s of millions but at the end of the day they are still in the learning process,do not the “experts” have a duty to know exactly what they are referring to before submitting it to the public, only to change it a week later?
Drug overdoses are up over 45% in some cities because they got people so scared and unable to seek treatment.
Deaths trail reported cases by 3-6 weeks. But it is a younger cohort, plus they have better info on what ACTUALLY works
They never said breathing DIDN'T spread it. Sneezing and coughing expel much higher quantities of droplets at a far more forceful speed. Where breathing might spread a few feet, droplets from a cough or sneeze can travel dozens of feet.Quote:

994 deaths yesterday. That's the highest daily death toll since June 10. We'll have to wait to see what the numbers are this week, but like you said, deaths are a lagging indicator so now would be about the time that we would expect the death rate to begin to spike again.
The ICU capacity indicator is one to keep an eye on, because as that begins to spike, deaths will not be far behind, perhaps just a week or two.
56 Florida ICUs now at capacity, hospitalizations are at an all-time high in California, and Arizona's single-day death toll yesterday cracked triple digits for the very first time [[117 dead in Arizona in just one day).

Sigh... I just can't believe the reality of COVID is so BOUND in politics and allies. In the meantime breathe deeply. Keep your lungs as healthy as possible, which is a good idea for long life anyway.
Cycle, peddle, stretch, do some form of moderate exercise, drink water, eat foods rich in nutrients, and above all get plenty of rest.
Those are some things we can all do privately, and off-line and aside from the 'who's and what' debate of it all.
Though current studies aren’t conclusive, “the results of available studies are consistent with aerosolization of virus from normal breathing,” Harvey Fineberg,
https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020...w-report-finds
Usually when they say the studies are not conclusive it means they still do not know.
So yes they are reporting what they think and now people are going to take it as fact, even though it clearly reads NOT conclusive.
The presence of the RNA indicates virus can spread via aerosols, Santarpia and his colleagues concluded, although they did not find infectious viral particles.
Its almost as bad as those who keep up the narrative that Florida hospital ICU are overwhelmed.
Once again,If a hospital only has 3 ICU beds,a fourth patient I guess in theory classify a hospital as overflowing.
Everybody was screaming about PPE but yet
Another preprint cited by the NAS panel raised concerns that personal protective equipment [[PPE) could itself be a source of airborne contamination.
So are we really going to justify based on what they did not say?
Ah, Richard. Ever the scientific illiterate. From your cited material:
"It also adds to the case for masks. The NAS panel cited work reported in a paper by Nancy Leung of the University of Hong Kong and colleagues. They collected respiratory droplets and aerosols from patients with respiratory illnesses caused by viruses; some of the patients wore surgical facemasks. The masks reduced the detection of coronavirus RNA in both respiratory droplets and aerosols, but only in respiratory droplets among influenza sufferers. “Our results provide mechanistic evidence that surgical facemasks could prevent transmission of human coronavirus and influenza virus infections if worn by symptomatic individuals,” the researchers conclude."
One piece of the pile of evidence that is mounting as to the efficacy of facemasks in blocking the spread.
The evidence you site about them being a SOURCE of infection has to do with discarded masks and other factors. Try reading for understanding instead of reading for verification of your misinformation. It could be illuminating for you.
Records continue to shatter. 60,000+ new cases yesterday, first time we crossed the 60,000 threshold. Remember Fauci warned that without new containment measures, we could reach 100,000 new cases per day.
Meanwhile, for the usual suspects who keep preaching that the death rate is low....California and Texas both shattered their single-day death tolls yesterday with deaths in the triple digits.
For Texas, that marks the THIRD straight day where they tied or broke their own record for daily death toll. They tied their previous record for deaths at 63 on July 6, then broke it the next day with 85 deaths on July 7, and finally shattered it again yesterday with 121 deaths. That's not a good trend given the exponential growth.
Trump won't be satisfied until US coronavirus deaths reach 200,000 and infections top 5M. The current White House coronavirus response largely consists of silencing the CDC and the NIH. In addition to his latest whine about reopening the schools, the administration is upset at the CDC issuing a report detailing the risks that covid virus poses to pregnant women.
Trump's White House adviser, Paul Alexander, criticized the agency’s methods and said its warning to pregnant women “reads in a way to frighten women . . . as if the President and his administration can’t fix this and it is getting worse.” [[NYT, 7/10/20).
It is bad enough that the US response to covid-19 is worse than a third-world country. Now, the President wants to risk the health of pregnant women because it might undermine Trump's image.

Talking about fools, Trump is again boasting about his score on a recent cognitive test. It is probably the same Montreal Cognitive Assessment that he bragged about last year. We now know that Trump can draw a clock, and put a name to a picture of a camel and a lion. Apparently, the Hydroxychloroquine and Clorox didn't do too much damage to his few remaining brain cells. My guess that he is trying to counter the disclosure in the Mary Trump memoir “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man," that he had to pay someone to take his SAT's. November can't come soon enough.
