Bernero is killing this poll. 13 - 5 [[Synder) - 9 [[Other). Looks like DetroitYes has spoken for who they want to win the primary. Will this sentiment change if Bernero wins the primary and begins campaigning for the general election?
There is "other" and there is another person with a D next to his name running for governor. So uh, yeah, I thought it was worth mentioning. Question though, why would an ultra-partisan rightest hang out on a leftist board? You know what, don't answer that, it's a rhetorical question.
Bernero for governor of Michigan.
Bernero is the guy who works inside of Michigan politics while Snyder works outside of Michigan politics.

^^^Looks like I know how to predict them. Now people ask me why this thread is about those two? Because they are our choices. Time to analyze both of these would be governors and see which is the better man.
have to hand it to you cp, you called it. Your award is in the photoshop shop and once I'm able to talk to the union steward, I'll get the elves to work on it.
congrats

And now the Great Debate, governor's edition, is scheduled for Oct. 10.
Democrat Virg Bernero and Republican Rick Snyder have agreed to participate in a single, Sunday evening televised debate at the facilities of Detroithttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adT...lass_10x10.gif Public TV in Wixom.
Debate is on at 7 pm tonight on channel 56. Also on WWJ AM 950.
Thanks, Pam. I already know how I plan to vote, but there's nothing like a debate for getting a glimpse of a candidate in a situation that is not 100% rehearsed. Certainly, they have a clue as to which questions they are likely to hear, but still.
One thing I noted about Bernero is that he was the only politician that went with the automakers to Washington to ask for money. I didn't see Cockrel there. Granholm was out of the country, but was "available by phone if needed" according to her spokeswoman. For these 2 not being there when the chips were down for our state's biggest industry, is shameful. At least Bernero was there supporting their efforts. He wasn't even mayor of the biggest city in the state.
As far as Granholm's role in the auto bailout - read Overhaul by stephen rattner. Granholm was VERY involved. To suggest otherwise is absurd - she spent a ton of time on the issue- in DC, in Michigan, and in the media.
The fact that Snyder, will only debate once, has a distinct odor to it. Bernaro for me.
Rick has my vote
Watched the debate. Snyder came off as an empty suit - very similar to DeVos just less rat-faced.
I saw some of what you're talking about. To Snyder's credit though, I liked that he talked about being bipartisan. In my opinion, partisanship is one of the biggest problems in this country. I could care less who comes up with an idea, I just care if the idea itself is good or bad.
He talked about being bipartisan but hasn't given any indication that he really is, plus his lack of cooperation in scheduling customary and expected debates doesn't speak well of his negotiating intents.
I don't think he'll function well in a governmental structure and he sure as hell won't be able to walk in and dictate changes like a corporate CEO can in a business setting.
Snyder certainly didn't display much in the way of a leadership personality, either. His attitude smacks of rich guy entitlement.
Well, neither candidate bowled me over with personality. Virg came across as attacking and jealous. Snyder came across as smug and evasive with regard to some of the questions. And you're right, there is no evidence of Snyder being bipartisan.
Here's my question though, what do you think about Snyder's 6% corporate tax proposal? Both Snyder and Bernero said that the MBT must go. To me, taxes seem like the most important issue that either of the two of them discussed [[as it does relate to job creation or pushing jobs out of the state).
Would have to see the details of his 6% tax. If it's anything like Federal taxes there are plenty of ways to get around showing profit from year to year [[which means no tax to be paid). And if it's coupled with getting rid of personal property tax for the business [[which he mentioned) it's even easier to avoid paying.
The only way Virg is going to cut into Snyder's lead is to put him on the defensive. Snyder was correct in agreeing to only one debate. Snyder has a big lead and all additional debates will do is hurt Snyder not help him.
Virg knew that this was his only shot to corner Snyder and for the most part I think he did. Virg was very aggressive especially early in the debate.
