My sources say "Dexter-Linwood"
When my mother lived there as a teenager it was called "on the westside near Central High."
I raised the same question about the name of this neighborhood a year or two ago because everything I searched came up with various names from Dexter-Linwood to Dexter-Davison [[for the area farther north). Some sources list that area as one neighborhood from W. Grand Blvd almost to Oakman, except for the Boston-Edison section east of Linwood. Others show it as two separate neighborhoods for the area south between Dexter & Linwood, from Chicago to the Blvd;and again the area north between Dexter & the Lodge, Chicago to Davison). At the time I originally posted, I got some people who told me that Dexter-Linwood couldn't be a valid name because the two streets are parallel - not like the other neighborhoods named after cross-streets [[like 7 Mile-Gratiot or Harper-Gratiot). I'm curious to hear from residents or former residents and what they called it, since it doesn't seem to have an "official" name.
I'm also curious about a name for the area south of Boston-Edison [[between Linwood & the Lodge) down to about Euclid. I see that some sources use the names of Virginia Park and LaSalle Gardens in the area just north of the Blvd, but those areas seem to end around Euclid. One source I saw just called it the 12th St. neighborhood.
