Hot Deal on Building

Developer is needed to purchase the historic Mellus Newspapers Building from Lincoln Park's DDA. Right now, I would not be surprised if someone offered $25,000 or $50,000 they'd accept it. The DDA purchased the Mellus Newspapers Building and its sister building, Pollak Building, earlier in the year for $90,000. The DDA chairperson states that they would probably be willing to sell at a loss as well as sell their the 3rd building they own at 1673 Fort Street at a loss. That building was purchased for $175,000. Right now, they have only received a ridiculous offer of $500 for the three buildings and another developer has even talked about offering $1.00 !!

The Mellus and Pollak Buildings will be on Lincoln Park's Dangerous Building Board agenda next Thursday, October 22nd, 7 pm at Lincoln Park City Hall city council chambers.
