I sleep better at night knowing the federal government is protecting me,they are my hero’s.
Cell phones are no different then having a ring camera,digital connected home camera and security system,smart TV,Alexa or even a roomba vacuum cleaner everything you say or do can be used against you in a court of law or provide hours of pleasure for some pervert sitting behind a screen monitoring it all.
It would be cool if some youngster AP builder could make one that could be installed mission impossible style,here officer let me enter the code in for you so your job is easier.

Just like the FBI chick that was busted with phone numbers of bin laden terrorists on her phone that were under surveillance and she had kept all of the records of their investigations at home on electronic devices.

Did you see where they busted the guy that was selling encrypted cell phones and flipped him to supply all the major players across the world with them while the feds were monitoring it in real time.
FBI is supposed to be domestic but they are playing a worldwide game and taking people out no different then the CIA.
Cell phone is no different then a land line,the same rules apply,do not say,store or do anything on them that you do not want the world to see,because they can anyways.
The example used in the video,like nobody is going to suspect a taped up pressure cooker as containing something it should not be when crossing an international border.

So you gotta figure crossing the border in a RV is going to be a guaranteed scrutiny check.

In 2021 75,000 Americans died from fentanyl overdoses,all of that came across the border along with tons of other drugs that are killing Americans on a daily basis but let’s make it a priority to have the ability to search every private citizens phones on the off chance they may have some kiddy porn or a personal use weapon for protection while coming out of Mexico a place where the police are just as bad as the cartels.
Its perfectly okay to carry a load of government supplied weapons into Mexico to supply the cartels,just do not bring one back.
Peoples stupidity is what is giving the feds freedom over our freedoms,look we caught a pervert at the cost of millions of taxpayer dollars and while we were unraveling the tape in order to discover the ammunition that was concealed in the pressure cooker so you can be safer,a cartel member drove right on by with 100 pounds of fentanyl in his/her/it/thems trunk.
It's a pain in the neck, but the safe thing to do:
1. Make a backup of your phone. Either to the cloud or locally using iTunes.
2. Create a second google/apple ID you don't plan on using much
3. Factory reset your phone
4. Set it up using the second ID
5. Cross the border
6. Factory reset the phone again and set it back up with your regular ID
You can save the login credentials for the second ID and reuse it every time you go through the border to save a bit of time.
They would be bored to death searching my phone, can I get arrested for that?

This old thread discusses how they have jurisdiction over most of Michigan. So I guess even leaving your phone at home wouldn't protect you.
It sure would be nice to be able to strongly encrypt the whole phone in a DIY fashion so that you could know there weren't any backdoors for the LEOs. ;) But somehow I think that feature is reserved for the most heinous of criminals, not law abiding folks.
