The house on the corner of E. Warren and McClellan was # 5000.
The second house was 5006.
The third house [[ours) was 5012.
The seventh house, Mr. T.s, was about 5042 or 5044. sometimes there was a 'skip' of eight numbers instead of six, between houses.

I think the four family flat on the corner of McClellan and Murray [[side street) may not be there. Mr. T.s house was next to it.

The name, mother, was used only in the third person, in a favorable light.

In an unfavorable light, she was called, 'the old lady.'

"Ma" was the accepted address in most circumstances.

I cannot recall a single instance of the word "Mom" being used by anyone, anywhere in my circle of acquaintances, in the thirties and forties.

Our own children have always used, 'Mom' ever since their school days.

When I talk to my children, in reference to Peggy, I use 'Mom'.

When I talk to them about MY mother, I still use, 'Ma'.

However, I never called my father, 'Pa." It was always, 'Dad'.
Go figure!

Looks like "newer" growth trees are thriving. If it was an elm tree, it is likely long gone.
We'll check it out [[and dad's old place on Canton) this weekend.

Quck story:
Grandfather's old place, on Field, is still standing. My brother recognized the address when taking a home improvement order, about 15 years ago. Personally visited for a quote. The same wallpaper, from the 1950s, was on the sitting room wall, and the player piano is still operating. Carriage house/garage was gone, but the lilac bushes remained.

T - I was the one that mentioned the "ma" thing, which is what I would call my Mom. . My dad always referred to his parents as Ma and Pa. This would always remind me of Ma and Pa Kettle!
