In the world of fashion, few brands spark as much envy as Italian luxury brand Versace.

Developed by the late Gianni Versace in 1978, Versace has long been revered as one of the premier fashion brands worldwide for its bright kitschy colors, luxurious detail, and commitment to high-quality materials. Most recently, Versace — under the design leadership of sister Donatella since Gianni's murder in 1997 — sees the Italian brand collaborate with Ford Motor Company for a one-year licensing deal to use the iconic blue Ford logo in the fashion house's designs.

That finally came to the runway during the recent Milan Fashion Week which saw Versace's menswear line adorn several pieces with the Ford logo.

Follow-up on the older story. I always found these guys to be unbearable, but it turns out Rod Allen is - surprise - also a terrible person.

Assaulting someone is never okay. Apologizing or at least reaching out would be the gentlemanly thing to do since apparently assaults do happen. I am not surprised neither of these two have attempted to mend fences.

Awful broadcasters, terrible humans. Good riddance. Long live Dan and Jim.

There was an explorer death at the Grand Trunk Warehouse on East Ferry and St. Aubin next to the Incinerator on Friday night. A group was in the building and lost one of their friends according to local papers. They had to come back the next morning to continue searching and found him in a elevator shaft. I was out taking photos of St. Albertus on Saturday and I drove by the warehouse while authorities were recovering the body. I thought it was a fire at first and almost took pictures, but then it didnt look like there was any fire I realized it was probably a recovery of some kind.

Local media are repeating the police in describing this building as "The Packard Plant". The Arte Express company guy from Peru owns both properties, which is probably why the police keep saying that. I dont think the GT Warehouse was ever part of the Packard Plant which is almost two miles away.

If that building does not ring a bell right away, here are some photos, I am sure many people will recognize it.

Auto show to go on after massive Detroit water main break forces boil water advisory
Quote:

A 42-inch water main break late around 11 p.m. Saturday has forced a boil water advisory for downtown Detroit.

Residents and businesses in the area bounded by the John C. Lodge Service Drive on the west, Mount Elliott on the east, Interstate 75 on the north and Detroit River on the south are affected.

People should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, brushing teeth and washing dishes, the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department said.

Gary Brown, director of the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, said Sunday morning that the water boil advisory will likely be in effect until Thursday....

Detroit auto show organizers were notified early Sunday about the water main break, confirmed Amanda Niswonger, spokeswoman for the show. The break comes on the eve of North American International Auto Show's Media Days, which draws auto executives and more than 5,000 journalists from around the world.

“Cobo Center and the NAIAS are fully aware of the boil water advisory and are taking the necessary precautions to ensure all attendees of the upcoming show have safe water to drink. We have shut off access to all drinking fountains and have hung signs in restrooms alerting caution,” Niswonger said. “Bottled water is available for drinking.”...
Another good reason to move NAIAS to June.

Smooth Jazz in the D https://www.detroityes.com/mb/showthread.php?23742-Smooth-Jazz-in-the-D&goto=newpost Sun, 13 Jan 2019 04:54:52 GMT
Not sure if this is the place but don't see how it could hurt: Recently I've started programming a small smooth jazz station on the Internet for the Detroit area that was an HD side channel of 107.5 several years ago. It has a fresher, deeper playlist and includes a few local artists but I need listeners to keep it on the air. No need to donate anything; just listen and spread the word. I've worked so hard to build this and would like to see it become a long-lasting hit. If you have any suggestions for airplay especially if you're a local artist wanting recognition, please e-mail me with your MP3 files at bdj00@msn.com. Thanks in advance, and enjoy!

Does anyone has a list of upcoming retail that are in the plans to open downtown especially Merchant's Row? I see a few completed storefronts but no sign posted in the windows stating what will open in the locations. I am still wondering what will open next to Under Armour. I would love to see a Columbia Outlet opening on the strip

My Dad remembers a Mexican restaurant where the present site of McDonalds (13 and Woodward) currently is. There was a large cement statue of a man in a sombrero where he used to wait taking the bus to Wayne. It was there as late as Fall of 1969. Does anyone remember the name of this?
