Still standing though severely abused with a sloppily painted front, Henry Ford's first big factory on Piquette Ave. at John R St. was the womb from which a mighty corporation emerged.

The Ford Motor Company Piquette  Avenue plant, has been acquired by the MODEL T AUTOMOTIVE HERITAGE COMPLEX, INC. (T-Plex), a nonprofit corporation formed for the purpose of restoring the historic building and establishing an automotive interpretative center. They need your help.

Ford Piquette Plant

Piquette Avenue is a short street with a deep history.  From the turn of the 20th Century through the twenties, Piquette Avenue would be the womb for a number famous automobile companies.

It was here that Henry Ford established his first big plant, the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, in 1904.  It was here that he first produced his famous Model T automobile in 1908. Its popularity led to the construction of the Highland Park Model T Plant starting in 1909.
