LAST STRIKE AT
Tiger Stadium

Paint peels away from this commemorative logo atop the visitor's dugout at Tiger Stadium revealing the forest green paint that covered the stadium for decades. The dates of 1912 - 1999 mark the Detroit Tiger's tenure at the stadium.  However baseball was played at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull for many years prior to 1912.

Detroit's historic Tiger Stadium closed at the end of the 1999 season with much fanfare.  However this was not to be the last game played at the venerable baseball park.

On August 12, 2001 a women's baseball tournament was played at Tiger Stadium which, for the now-slated-for-demolition ball park, would the last baseball games at Tiger Stadium.  Travel with me as we take a final glance back at Tiger Stadium on this waning summer day of August 12, 2001.
