footprint of the Lafayette Building stands out boldly
from this vista. A ruin with an uncertain future,
it abuts Detroit's famous Lafayette and American Coney
Island restaurants -- in the low pie shaped buildings to
the rear. To the right is the old Federal Building and
beyond the Detroit River and Windsor can be seen.
