The now celebrated Detroit rap music artist Eminem, aka Marshall Mathers, lived in a mobile home park along 8 Mile Road before he began his meteoric rise.  His journey's across the 8 Mile divide into the hip hop underworld of Afro American Detroit forms the dynamic of the movie and gives rise to the source of its name.

  8 MILE ROAD

This well kept mobile home park in Warren was used as a location in the Eminem movie 8 MILE.  Residents of the mobile home park were disturbed that the set for the movie depicted such a trashy mobile home in contrast to the reality.

Much of the housing immediately north of 8 Mile was built the late 40's and early 50's to satisfy the pent of demand created by returning World War II veterans.  Inexpensive houses hastily constructed on slab foundations sprouted as did mobile home parks.
