Always Open was the claim to fame of Kinsel's
Drugstore located on Michigan Avenue in downtown Detroit. After
the collapse of downtown that ensued with the abandonment of Hudson's
department store, Kinsel's struggled on for a while, but eventually
closed. A Taco Bell then took up residence, but also folded.
Today the entire building is empty.

The legend I heard
about Kinsel's was that when the owner went to lock up after its opening
day, he could not find his keys. So
he kept it open all night and discovered it to be a lucrative idea.
UPDATE: Kinsel's was demolished
in 2001. It is now a parking lot.
