THE DALLY IN THE ALLEY
Ruin du Jour -- September 18, 2000
TRUMBULL AVENUE
I am off to the
circus at the Trumbull Theater when
a shaft of reflected light illuminated this 19th Century beauty. Some places can
never be eyesores.
The interplay of
art and the ruins gives Detroit an special aesthetic edge. A lively
and vibrant culture thrives, largely unknown and, like the ruins, often
despised. To understand it you have to love art, have an open mind and
be bold.
