STLgasm is right.  They are beautiful.  While taking these pictures, I chatted with some of the street people.  Beyond the usual question, [are you going to buy it] they too agreed it was beautiful when I said I was taking the picture for just that reason.

It was also apparent that the Eddystone Hotel is heavily squatted as a number of people came and went from it while I was taking pictures.  A green quilt covers one squatted room.  Also the presence of the Salvation Army facility directly across the street may provide services for some of the squatters who may not wish to live in the Army's closely regulated confines.
