The
automotive revolution created by the Highland Park produced
Ford Model T created the very mobility that resulted in Detroit's
subsequent metropolitan sprawl.
Eventually,
Highland Park fell victim to this trend. By the 1970's the city
was in serious decline and the Ford Model T Plant, by then converted
into a tractor plant, was closed and abandoned.
