This
former house of the early twentieth century playboy millionaire
James Scott was converted into an apartment building.
Falling into decay and gutted by fire, it was abandoned in
the early seventies and then gutted by fire. Scott donated
the money to extend the western point of Belle and build a
huge fountain where his statue faces the fountain and city.

This
gutted castle-like apartment on Peterboro Street is one
of the numerous abandoned elegant apartments that marred the
city following the suburban flight that began in the fifties.
