The
Grande Ballroom
Around
the corner from Motown, on Grand River Avenue, are the ruins
of the Grande Ballroom whose enduring fame came from its last
days. The growth of rock 'n' roll as a concert and recording
industry that occurred with the youth culture scene in the
sixties briefly reprieved some the great movie theaters and
ballrooms of
Detroit. Such was the case when Russ Gibb reprised the
Grande as the Grande Ballroom and organized a string of legendary
concerts.
