The Detroit Breakfast House & Grill on lower Woodward in Downtown Detroit, across from the site of the former Hudson's Department store, is one of the new businesses slowly filling the storefronts of the formerly largely abandoned shopping district.

As Downtown Detroit continues its renovation and transformation to a residential loft and shopping district, the looming question is whether street level retail establishments will invest and survive in the new reviving environment.
