Detroit's triangular Harmonie Park in the heart of downtown is being view as a possible setting for an "Africantown" themed development stirring vigorous debate on the DetroitYES forum.  Framed by a backdrop of the Detroit Skyline in this 2004 photograph taken from the DAC parking lot, the ruins of the now demolished Madison Lennox Hotel can be see on the right.

  It would not be the first time this charming park would form an ethnic setting as it once formed the core of Detroit's 19th Century German community and was latter supplanted by a newly arriving Greek Community..

Central to that community was the Harmonie Club.  In the background right can now be seen the green lights of the new Detroit Tiger's baseball park.
