A massive vestige of Detroit's industrial era, the
Russell Industrial Center lives on as the home to a
number of artist studios and small businesses.
Owned by controversial developer Dennis Kefallinos
the complex has avoided abandonment and the wrecking
ball.

THE LAFAYETTE BUILDING |
|
|
With the excitement growing over the
restoration of the Cadillac Hotel and the building of the Griswold Condominiums,
the DetroitYES
forum interests look southward toward the beautiful and long abandoned Lafayette Building.
Brisk sales of the Cadillac and Griswold condominiums, in spite of a soft
regional real estate market, are further demonstrating the pent-up demand for
urban downtown residences. Proposals to convert the Lafayette Building into
residential units and talk of restoration of Capitol Park are stirring
discussion and questioning feasibility in this long dormant area of Downtown
Detroit. What's next? The Free Press Building?
