I hate the term "back in the day", but back in the day, Shield's Bar used to make a great pizza. They still exist? Remember, I'm asking from w a y out of the area.....

Z's Villa in Midtown has some pretty tasty pie; good blend of toppings and a good crust.
The original Shields on the east side [[Buddy's neighborhood rival) is gone. They still exist in at least one location in Southfield, maybe others. The pic below is the corner of Davison and Shields. Not sure if Shields was in the empty lot on the left or in the bldg. on the right.
Buddy's on Conant and Nikki's serve the best Detroit style pizza.
Supino and MCBW serve the best traditional thinner crust pizza. Friends of mine very much like the pizza at Angelina's, with the super thin and crispy italian crust, though that isn't quite my style.
I think Detroit has plenty of good pizza options!
In the burbs, Louie's is best.
I love Shield's. Besides the one in Southfield, I know there was one a bit lower on Telegraph by Warren. There's also one in the City of Warren on 12 mile just east of Mound and there's another on Romeo Plank and 23 mile. It's either Shelby Township or Macomb Township.
23 and Romeo Plank is Macomb Township.
Shields on E. Davison is long gone, but they had fabulous pizza --What I had when they were on 12 mile near Mound was horrible -- I gave them 3 chances ... 3 too many!! They closed down ---I wonder why? Buddy's on Conant and Louis [just ouside the city limits in Hazel Park ] are excellent - Cloverleaf and Green Lantern should be sought out as well
