    Default Classic Detroit TV Commercials

I was bored, so I decided to start a thread where we would showcase and discuss all the commercials we remember from the past.

I'm sure all of you remember these two. The first is a melody farms commercial from the 1980s with a little girl singing a "melody" of how good their ice cream was [[I wonder what that little girl is up to now?). The second one is a commercial for Buscemi's pizza from 1980 where a group of kids playing in a park [[my assumption is somewhere in East Detroit/Eastpointe) were also singing how great their pizza is [[and it still mentions Eastpointe as East Detroit).

Here's two more commercials from 1978. This is actually from the 1978 Hudson's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The first one is from Circus World toy store, and the second one is from Community National Bank [[both defunct). I absolutely loved the background music that was featured in CNB's commercials. It was also cute how thrilled they were over the debut of the ATM.

The only one worth mentioning is the Detroit Zoo talking animals spot from the 80s.

    "Nice goin' Melvin!"

"My lines, my lines, I can't remember my lines"

"Let ME talk to your agent!"

I realize this isn't really a Detroit commercial, but it is a favorite of mine. How about this one instead?

    "I want a Clark bar"

But seriously folks, I wish the Faygo "What flavors do you got" with, I believe, Willard Watterman as the store clerk was available. That was one of my favorites.

After robbing the stagecoach of its root beer, the villain says "when they ask, which way did he go, which way did he go? Just say he went for Fay-ay-ay-ay-go, Faygo Old-Fashioned Root Beer!"

Wow Joshua Doore....I bought some tables at their 14 Mi Rd store about 1974.

Did they ever solve the murder of the guy that ran the place? Memory serves, they found him stuffed into the trunk of a Lincoln.

"I went to her apartment, and the roaches...they was everywhere!"

    "You down! You down!"
"Yeah, I wish my sleeves was down!"

Also, remember the carpet salesman Bill Kennedy used to have on? I think his name was Abe Goldman. I just remember the words "bolt and upholstery sale".
