nice to see it's being done by those with the talent and expertise to keep it running. I was expecting to see Frank Taylor's name on it.
I saw they had fenced off the police station and my first thoughts were demolition.
Happy to hear it's being saved and reused.
It's a neat looking mid-century modern building.
the video keeps referring to the area as new center....fact checker?
I don't know about fact checker but I do know that if you mapquest it, it is clearly below Wayne State in Midtown not in New Center [[at least not what I think of as New Center)
Yeah I did notice that too, They kept saying New Center....
Article says it is a 27,000 Sq ft. place that seats over 600, that is massive!

Great News!!!
The article also mentions that the owners own Fishbone's, Greektown Casino and Atheneum Hotel. 1% interest in Greektown Casino does not exactly make for "ownership".
wait... is that that incredibly ugly school looking building on Woodward? between Hancock and Forest? right next to the Artists Market?
That place is so ugly. Even though a new eatery sounds AWESOME.
the video shows renderings and they look really nice, even though the building is ugly and i though it would be easier to put it out of its misery than renovate it... lol.
it just boggless my mind that they save this ugly ass building but not lafayette.
and it is NOT in new center. haha

Finally, something good comes of the 1945 Master Plan.
Urban hipsters don't eat at high end restaurants. Unless it's sushi.
lol at Dnerd.
I like the re-use, a lot.
And that is definitely not New Center.
For those who want to see the rendering or can't view the video. I wasn't able to get rid of the "play" icon, but this'll do for now.

A year and a half ago there were rumors of another Fishbones going in the former police station. They were even doing a free fishbones shuttle from Old Main downtown for students to judge interest. I gave up hope but good to hear some rumblings again. I'll be happier when shovels are in the ground.
As an aside the Garden Theatre development is looking really good. No real rehab to the Blue Moon or theatre yet but the infill building is larger and looks better than what was there.
