These are both pieces of theme music from two recent TV series. Both series have stars who are complicated not nice power people. One is a Democrat. The other a Viking. Both are, to my taste, on the edge well produced programs.
The first is the theme music from House of Cards. It fits the cut throat duplicity portrayed in our capitol. Moodiness, power, and danger are combined with horns and violins.
Only one video is allowed at a time. To be continued on the next post.

2nd of two posts
The second is from the History Channel's Vikings performed by Swedish mother Fever Ray who claims this piece was inspired by her youngsters.* The producers of this series loved their subject matter.
*"Dangling feet from window frame, will I ever reach the floor?
more, give me more, give me more"
Both series are available from Netflix.

For my money, the best American 60's band
Not the Monkees?? BS were good. I like the Neil tunes the best:

Gangsta Rap is DEAD! Tupac kick up it, Ice Cube got tired of it. and Lil Wayne took it some place else.
Pop-Rock, Post Indie with some monotone junk is selling right now in the market. Rap music today is going back underground.
The Monkees weren't a band, they were actors on a TV show that became a band for concerts, one album [[Headquarters) [[two after Justus) and a few songs after Headquarters. Yeah, I'm a fan. Headquarters is probably the best garage band album of the 60s, and the guys individually and collectively created some great music, esp. after forcing Donnie Kirchner out. And Dolenz is one of the all-time great vocalists:

and there is this...look toward the bottom of the left column
I still consider the Monkees a band. Peter Tork always gave Steve Stills credit for sending him to the Monkees audition. Peter introduced BS at Monterey. Look who posted on the comments for this:

yeah, I actually do to, sort of. I was just describing them the way they do. Micky made a comment on the Monterey video introduced by PT too. pretty funny [[Crosby subbing for Neil Young, Bruce Palmer for Jim Messina, still great, though)
PM me and I will tell you what Rafelson said about Stills recommending Tork.
Love Neko Case . In the BS/Mr. Soul video , the bass player has his back to the camera , I don't think that was Bruce Palmer who's second career was being popped for drugs . Look at Neil look lovingly back at Mrs. Young in this video
I can't, I have that turned off.PM me and I will tell you what Rafelson said about Stills recommending Tork.
I'm reading Neil's book right now and he said their road manager filled in for Bruce on some TV shows after he got deported. In the BS/Mr. Soul video , the bass player has his back to the camera , I don't think that was Bruce Palmer who's second career was being popped for drugs
I couldn't find this Vikings series on Netflix although I know I've watched a few episodes but not sure where or how I watched them but it was not by ordering DVDs from Netflix. Could they have taken it off the streaming menu?2nd of two posts

Django, Netlix only has them on DVD They aren't available on streaming. I got to see them because I stumbled into a the entire series on YouTube. Someone had titled them in Chinese so it took awhile before YouTube caught up with them. Synopsis of last episode with Aslaug.

Fehu, by pagan Norwegian group Wardrunna, works well in the background of a village being sacked. A Hardanger fiddle, often strange anyway, kicks in at about 40sec.

The death of Nelson Mandela brought this song to mind:

I'll see that and raise you this:
Bob Dylan – “Like a Rolling Stone” Interactive Video
The first time I tried it it didn't seem to work. Not sure why. Maybe I wasn't patient enough after pressing the keys. It seems pretty laggy. When it does work, it is very amusing. The Bob Dylan – “Like a Rolling Stone” Interactive Video showcases a patented technology platform, created by the digital media company Interlude, which allows viewers to play an active role in the story of the music video. The experience begins when users press play and have the ability to surf 16 different “TV channels” within the video in real-time. These channels are comprised of American TV formats in which, no matter what channel you are on, the hosts and actors are all lip-syncing the lyrics to "Like a Rolling Stone" as the song continues to play seamlessly. No two people will engage with the video in the same way twice. The full interactive video can also be experienced on iPhones and iPads and is easily shared across social media platforms.

Well since it's the Holidays [[for you non-heathens out there... ) and I had the rare good fortune to get a free ticket to the Detroit PBS Soirée at the Rattlesnake Club on Dec. 1... which honored WTVS Detroit Public TVs sponsored the now world-wide popular operatic-pop boy band [[from Italy) IL VOLO. It was their way for thanking PBS for the 2 years of sponsorship support... and what a glorious evening it was. They produced a new Christmas CD/DVD called Buon Natale... and they sang O Holy Night... which as a standard American tune... but no young performers have the strong windpipes that these 3 guys have... a cross between the Jonas Brothers and the 3 Tenors...
