I never knew that the former Berry Gordy mansion is being used as a showplace for tours and events. I thought it was strictly a private residence.

I'm surprised this is allowed in B-E.
I like the idea of touring a historic Detroit site like the Berry Gordy Mansion.

A little story about the place.About 25-30 years ago I went on a home tour in B-E and Berry Gordy's house was on the tour that year.Mr. Gordy apparently was quite close with his father and had many pictures of him through the house. There is a basement passage way from the house to a pool house on the property with,of course, some of the aforementioned photos lining the passageway walls. As we were walking along the passageway I noticed one picture in particular. It was Berry Gordy's parents painted in the Grant Wood classic painting of American Gothic. It was all I could to do keep from laughing aloud at the tackiness of the thing.Even my normally unflappable buddy was taken aback by it.

I met the new owners about 4 years ago and they seem to have quite a business.... We almost rented the carriage house for I believe 750 a month from an add we found on craigslist... They do wedding ceremony's on the grounds they were even talking of making the pool house into a neighborhood athletic club... The aforementioned tunnel I believe goes to the carriage house and to the pool house.. Quite a place indeed! Sadly for us they accepted the application before ours...
