Default Detroit Street Railways Manhole Cover

Just steps north of the Joe Louis "Fist" there is a steel manhole cover with Detroit Street Railways [["DSR") cast on it.

Did the DSR have its own electrical system at some point?

I don't know the answer to that, but I'm just guessing, but I wonder if the cover was originally in another location and just used again, as Jefferson has been reconfigured since the demise of the DSR.

Yes, over the years they used a combination of their own power, DPL, and Detroit Edison, depending on the location. I think they had a power house at the foot of Riopelle.

I always say person hole cover, especially in Canada where saying manhole cover may be unlawful.
