The Archimedes Palimpsest is a 10th Century medieval manuscript that is the subject of an ongoing technical, scientific and conservation effort at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. Since 1999, the multidisciplinary team has been disbinding, conserving, imaging, analyzing, transcribing and studying the 174 parchment folios – yielding approximately 400Gb of data to date. The Palimpsest, which the team affectionately calls “Archie,” includes at least seven treatises by Archimedes: The only copies of two of his Treatises, /The Method/ and /Stomachion/; the only copy in Greek of /On Floating Bodies;/ and copies of the /Equilibrium of Planes/, /Spiral Lines/, /The Measurement of the Circle/, and /Sphere and Cylinder/. It also contains 10 pages of text by the 4th century B.C. Attic Greek orator Hyperides; six folios from a Neo-Platonic philosophical text that has yet to be identified, but may be commentaries on Aristotle; four folios from a liturgical book; and twelve pages from two different books, the text of which has yet to be deciphered.

Have you met Talita? An amazing little girl who sees her smile for the first time after cleft lip surgery.

People ask me why I volunteer overseas so much... It takes my eyes off me and allows me to remember what life is all about. When we use what we have been given [[whatever that might be) to make a positive change for our world, that's when life make sense.... In a time when the world seems to be imploding with greed, there are certain things that will always remain invaluable..like the smile on this girls face when she realizes her life will be changed forever.

Her life has impacted mine as I have hers..but that's what it's all about..both being happier because the miracle of life allowed us to cross one another's paths and leave each other in a better place because we met. Without judgment.

Her lip is still swollen and painful as she is only 24 hours post surgery but the joy in her eyes is unmistakable and makes my heart laugh without measure. I hope it brings the same to you.

Hattusha was home to more than 50,000 people....

But ancient Hattusha did have one wonderful treasure just waiting to be discovered by archeologists. Not gold or jewels, but something far more precious. Hidden away in a labyrinth of rooms were five enormous libraries. in them, beautifully files and cataloged were 30,000 tablets. It was one of the largest and oldest libraries ever discovered....

The breakthrough surprised everyone. It meant Hittite was not a middle eastern language as everyone expected but was an Indo-Euroean language just like English. The Hittites were unlike all their rivals in the ancient world, because they were not from the middle east but from some part of Europe. The Hittites must have migrated to Turkey....

The Egyptians claimed victory but we now know from the texts found in Hattusha that, in fact, the Hittites had won the war....

The archives seem to run out right before the end. There's nothing that sheds any light on the very last days of the empire....

The civil war spiraled out of control.

The Hittites then simply abandoned Hattusha.

Any debunking is graciously appreciated.

One important point unmentioned in the video is how weight training prevents the catastophic hazards of osteoporosis in elderly women. Bone mineral density is increased by weight training. It also makes everyday life surprisingly easy. Heavy doors become as light as sheets of paper.

The key is to start small with minimum weights, then slowly, gradually, relentlessly increase the weights over time.
