Working America labors under the weakest protections from abusive management in the developed world by far. We take it as a given that our bosses can fire us for any reason [[with a few exceptions like discrimination on the basis of race or gender), or no reason at all -- a notion that would shock and appall working people in most advanced economies. But corporate America doesn't want the very modest protections that do exist in this country to be enforced. Even as companies lay claim to many of the Constitutional rights of citizenship, they want to be held above the rule of law when it comes to their employees.

They published over 800 different laws that the organization has written for Republicans across the country -- laws that will benefit their members' industries and provide nothing for consumers. But that's not the end of the story. As it turns out ALEC is actually using taxpayer's money to help push their small-government, pro-corporate agenda.

We've seen unprecedented attacks on union workers coming from states like Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Florida and things only appear to be getting worse. This week the GOP successfully managed to partially shut down the FAA -- the organization in charge of maintaining airport safety -- because they were unhappy with airline employees' unions. Papantonio: Wisconsin Recalls Spell Doom for Scott Walker
Wisconsin Democrats have won the last two of nine state Senate recall elections held over the course of the summer, meaning that the opponents of Governor Scott Walker's attacks on collective-bargaining rights have prevailed in the majority of recall elections and claimed the majority of votes cast in what many saw as a statewide referendum on Walker's policies.

No state income taxes are roads are very well kept and jailbrids pick up litter along the side. Not to say anything about 265,000 new jobs after obama took office. There a reason we have + 25,000,000 people here and growing. Thats Ricky Perry and staff. I now live in and love the Great State of Texas.

Papantonio: Chamber of Commerce Steps Up Their Assault on Civil Justice
Big business, led by the US Chamber of Commerce, has done everything you could imagine to convince the American public that tort reform is necessary. They launched a public relations campaign starting in the mid-80's that continues to this day to convince the public that we have out of control juries, too many frivolous lawsuits and a civil justice system that needs reforming. They have used anecdotes, half-truths and flat out lies in their efforts, for one purpose -- to put limits on people's access to the court system, the one and only place where an average citizen can go toe to toe with those with money and power and still have a shot at justice. And the case they've used to bring people to their cause is the McDonald's hot coffee case, which has been skewed to epic proportions in their attempt to discredit the legal system. But as the new documentary Hot Coffee points out, this case was not the multi-million dollar payday that we're led to believe.

Papantonio: Prosecute US Credit Agencies
After last month's deficit reduction and debt ceiling deal, US credit rating agencies downgraded the United States' credit rating. And while this downgrade sent shockwaves through financial markets, the fact that these rating agencies actually helped create our current financial disaster went completely overlooked. According to a Senate report released earlier this year, these ratings agencies like Moody's and Standard and Poor knew that Wall Street banks and mortgage brokers were ripping off consumers and pushing our economy toward the brink of disaster yet they did nothing to prevent that disaster from happening.Last edited by Jimaz; August-25-11 at 01:38 PM.

Rick Perry, Michelle Bachmann, and Sister Sarah are hoping to turn this election season into a referendum against government, taxes, and regulations. It is the only tune they know. Each one of them are barely able to finish a sentence where some direct or nuance attack on government, taxes, or regulations is not part of the punch line. The Tea Bagger movement, Sovereign citizen movement naturally adore the 3 anti-everything candidates. Just like the Sovereign Citizens, Perry, Bachmann, and Palin are one trick dogs who have a substandard level of intellect that prevents them from ever having an understanding about how America exists, uniquely because of taxes, regulations, and the rule of law.
