Every time I think of the Crusaders I think about how, any time I start boring someone with a speech about my admiration for Wayne Shorter, the person listening always interjects, knowingly, "Oh yeah, he was with the Jazz Crusaders, right, yeah," and even after I assure them that he was not, they insist that they are quite sure that he was.
Same thing with Joe Henderson, I suppose, and for the same reason.

    Oh, yeah!
That entire Crusaders album is, indeed, Super Stuff!
    On this we agree, b/x......

    Default Dead and Gone

    The above youtube video vanished.

A decent alternative from Spike.com: Dead and Gone.

Catch the "old me"/"homey" homonym and its meaning. Genius.

On December 22, it's always Joe Strummer. 7 years gone

[[Joe sent out this hand-painted christmas card -- repros available through strummerville.com)

If you're after getting the honey, don't go killing all the bees. RIP Joe, always missed.

Here's a seasonally-appropos one from my pal Chuck... he did this in the late 90s; I had never heard this song before he sang it, though I have heard numerous artists perform it since. It is one of my favorites, especially when sung by him....

Watched the 25 anniversary show of the Rock Hall of Fame. Really enjoyed it, Aretha was great, at least until she had Annie Lennox join here.
A lot of great stuff in that show.
Also heard today that the singer of the Knack is dying of cancer. I had no idea his brother is our own Jeffrey Fieger.
