Not earth-shaking, or "challenging." Maybe even a bit pedestrian.
    But it sure is nice.
Also having a sudden, unprovoked yen for John Coltrane, so if you heard "Giant Steps" blasting from a beat-up Dodge driving through the Corktown area, that was me, inflicting my tastes on the world at large.

Jeez, as if the hip hop kids weren't bad enough, now we have to be annoyed by pipe smoking, old jazz dudes. Ravine, you are a menace to society.

Giant Steps is a classic, at least Ravine didn't go all free jazz on you. I have heard Marshall Allen solos that sounded like copulating cats.

I think it is interesting to consider how, at the time of its release, "Giant Steps" probably was thought of as being fairly far out there. [[I can't be sure; I was alive, but I dang sure wasn't listening to John Coltrane.)
Pam, I am unable to defend myself against your playfully stern rebuke, except to say that what I call "blasting" may not even elicit a reaction from nearby citizens. Also, I like a bass to sound & feel like a real bass, so even if my car's audio system was able to produce that Thor, God of Thunder effect, I wouldn't use it that way.
